Locally Hosted Dynamic DNS Provider
A lot of power users use local-only ADSL due to the cheaper data rates and a lot of them also tend to use Dynamic DNS (DDNS) to gain remote VPN/SSH access to their home (or work) machines or even run the usual internet services (Web, FTP, XMPP, IRC, etc) across their ADSL connection.
The problem with using these two together though is that the DDNS providers are generally hosted overseas so pushing DNS updates while on local can be a problem.
A locally hosted DDNS provider would solve this problem and also help to reduce international bandwidth dependency and utilisation by keeping the DNS resolution local. (Keep in mind, DDNS generally utilises a very low TTL on individual records due to the rapidly changing nature of the resolved IPs which makes caching over a prolonged period of time very difficult.)

yeah, DDNS can be problematic at times, it really depends on your ISP provider, some isp monitor stand provides much better value, and allow you to encode, and use different dns settings, other wont.

I am currently using Comcast which has been very good for me. I just heard about a company called Clear that claims their solution is just as fast as everything out there. The cool thing about Clear is that they claim to broadcast a cloud of coverage so that you can be on the go and still get high speed internet..

I do not fully understand what do you mean by locally hosted DDNS provider.. it is dynamic, so it means that you can have your DNS at home, doesn't it?

In the rate the Local DDNS
In the rate the Local DDNS will be fine, but do you think that quality of services will be same. Actually I agree that maximum DDNS providers are generally hosted overseas so pushing DNS updates while on local can be a problem. it will also help us to reduce international bandwidth dependency, but I am not so sure abut the benefits of the utilization by keeping the DNS resolution local. As I have not applied it till now.
Till I am not having a practical proof, it will be hard to believe. As I had not trust the online bingo games until grabbing a bingo prize. It was sweet experience to play world best online bingo games.

If you can provide better options with competitive prices, this may have a great impact on the industry.

I have been researching alternative providers. I am currently using Comcast which has been very good for me. I just heard about a company called Clear that claims their solution is just as fast as everything out there. The cool thing about Clear is that they claim to broadcast a cloud of coverage so that you can be on the go and still get high speed internet. I always imagined this cloud affect and how great this could be. I'm not sure if we are really there yet in this technology. My AT&T 3G coverage for my I-Phone seems to have gotten faster over the past few months though. I can't wait to see where we are in all of this 5 years from now. Does anyone have any knowledge with this? Please check out my area and see if you know of some other option I'm missing. I live in The Woodlands Texas

From the company's perspective it would make sense to encourage this because, at scale, it would result in the company having to rent less parking bays on a monthly basis. Also, with a bit of marketing spin companies could use the bus as a driving billboard, highlighting their forward thinking culture. Whelen

Sounds like a cool idea...
Sounds like a cool idea... but I am sure that SA has a DNS farm somewhere in SA....
All that needs to be done is to set your DNS server pointers to that server.... The next thing is for all SA local ISPs to have peer to peer networking, so that you do not use expensive international bandwidth....
This would have to be done even if you were to set up a dedicated SA DNS separately...
